Fundación Terra's Tutoring Scholarships Program is expanding its coverage and beginning implementation in the department of Intibucá to strengthen academic performance, promote youth leadership, and encourage collaborative learning among students.

The initiative begins in three schools in Intibucá and La Esperanza, directly benefiting 120 basic education students through reinforcement in key subjects such as Spanish and Mathematics.

Tutoring Scholarships uses a peer-learning methodology in which high-performing students in fifth through ninth grade provide academic support to children in the early grades. The model strengthens academic skills while fostering leadership, empathy, solidarity, and teamwork.

With this new stage, the program has reached a cumulative total of 11,997 tutored students and 3,122 tutors in Honduras. Regionally, the initiative is present in 608 schools.

As part of the launch, Fundación Terra and Partners of the Americas, through the USDA McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen education and expand learning opportunities in vulnerable communities in Intibucá and La Paz.

The partnership includes implementing Tutoring Scholarships in 14 schools, academic support, school supplies and kits, annual scholarships for tutors, training for volunteer teachers, and initiatives related to infrastructure, digital tools, and community development.
