For the tenth consecutive year, Fundación Terra is supporting the protection of the core area La Tigra National Park to safeguard water resources, conserve biodiversity, promote environmental education, and foster the sustainable development of surrounding communities.

As part of this commitment, Fundación Terra and Fundación de Amigos de La Tigra (AMITIGRA) signed a new cooperation agreement that strengthens their joint efforts to protect the capital's main water reserve. In 2026, Fundación Terra is supporting the Zero Fires campaign, which seeks to prevent and reduce forest fires through community awareness, specialized equipment, and stronger local capacities.

The agreement also provides for an eight-person crew to carry out preventive work, the construction of 1.5 kilometers of firebreaks in the El Trigo-Piligüin area, fire monitoring and suppression, and greenhouse work to produce plants for restoration activities.

During ten years of partnership, 12,300 trees have been planted in the buffer zone, more than 120 farmers have received technical assistance, and four community groups have been strengthened.

La Tigra National Park provides approximately 30% of Tegucigalpa's water supply and is an essential water source for communities in Francisco Morazán.

This cooperation reaffirms both institutions' commitment to protecting La Tigra National Park and promoting actions that generate environmental, social, and economic benefits for future generations.
