Fundación Terra Inaugurates the First POETA DigiSpark Artificial Intelligence Center in Honduras
Fundación Terra, in collaboration with the San Juan Bosco Professional Training Center (CFP) and with the support of strategic partners such as Microsoft and The Trust for the Americas, has inaugurated the first POETA DigiSpark Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center in Honduras. This initiative, marking the launch of the seventh POETA DigiSpark center in the country, aims to train young people, teachers, and entrepreneurs in advanced digital skills, including the ethical and productive use of artificial intelligence.
The POETA DigiSpark AI – Don Bosco Center, located at the CFP San Juan Bosco in Tegucigalpa, will offer a wide range of digital skills training in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, computer science, as well as employability and entrepreneurship skills. Open from Monday to Saturday, the center is expected to benefit over 300 students per month, including youth from vulnerable communities and professionals seeking to update their skills in a digitally transforming environment.
The program aims to bridge the digital and technological skills gap by facilitating access to educational and economic opportunities for people aged 16 and older. Through training for teachers and facilitators, the center seeks to strengthen digital inclusion in low-income sectors, promoting effective integration into the digital economy. The strategic partnership with Microsoft has enabled the center to be equipped with 48 Windows and Microsoft Office licenses, while The Trust for the Americas provides platforms and technical support. Fundación Terra has been responsible for adapting the space and providing resources, such as 16 computers, multimedia equipment, and support staff.
“This project holds special meaning for me, as it represents a way to give back the values of solidarity and respect that I learned at the Salesian Institute San Miguel. With this center, we honor Don Bosco’s legacy by empowering a new generation of leaders, reaffirming our commitment to advancing digital education, and creating employment opportunities for Honduran communities,” emphasized Fundación Terra’s Executive President, Mr. Fredy Nasser.
The inauguration of the POETA DigiSpark AI – Don Bosco Center not only strengthens the collaboration between Fundación Terra and the CFP San Juan Bosco, which has trained more than 30,000 young people over the past 39 years, but also stands as an example of how strategic alliances can transform technology access in Honduras’s most vulnerable communities.
