Fundación Terra provides Seed Capital to 17 Honduran Entrepreneurs

Fundación Terra, in pursuit of its goal to promote the socioeconomic well-being of Honduras through its flagship entrepreneurship program, Terra Te Impulsa, and in collaboration with the National Foundation for the Development of Honduras (FUNADEH), is providing seed capital to 17 entrepreneurs through the Terra Te Impulsa Entrepreneur GENESIS Award. The aim is to generate sustainable growth for these business owners.

The objective of the award is to support entrepreneurs with their own projects that contribute to the social and economic development of the country, foster entrepreneurial spirit and innovative initiatives, emphasize the role of education in creating new businesses, and promote the formalization of enterprises as a means of business growth.

The winners come from cities such as La Entrada Copán, Copán Ruinas, Santa Bárbara, Siguatepeque, Tegucigalpa, El Progreso, San Pedro Sula, and Omoa. The first-place winner will receive a prize of L 30,000.00, the second-place winner L 25,000.00, the third-place winner L 20,000.00, while the fourth and fifth-place winners will each receive a laptop. Additionally, 12 awards of L 15,000.00 each will be presented.

Out of a total of 50 applicant entrepreneurs, 30 outstanding finalists were selected, who underwent evaluation by a panel of experts that chose the 17 winners. This expert panel based its selection on criteria such as innovation and creativity, incorporation of digital marketing knowledge, viability of the entrepreneurship, market opportunities, the candidate's communication skills to sell their idea, as well as their notable achievements and entrepreneurial history.

Among the new skills acquired by these young entrepreneurs are financial education, knowledge of production costs, income and expense control, basic accounting, financial statements, proper use of credit, legalization and formalization of microenterprises, and marketing.

Mariel Rivera, Executive Director of Fundación Terra, commented, "This seed capital contribution reaffirms our commitment to the economic development of the country, providing an opportunity to reward 17 Terra Te Impulsa entrepreneurs. It reflects the execution of agreements established with the Partnership for Central America to strengthen and promote entrepreneurship in the country and promote digital inclusion for SMEs. We will continue to benefit many more entrepreneurial ventures as they are the engine of Honduras' economy."

The GENESIS Project, in collaboration with Fundación Terra, Terra Te Impulsa, and CEUTEC, aims to impact the lives of beneficiaries by creating and strengthening their microenterprises. Through this initiative, the goal is to promote self-employment and the generation of family income, allowing for economic autonomy and empowerment, especially for women. This ensures sustainable growth in households, businesses, and contributes to the development of the local economy in communities and the country as a whole. These words were expressed by Ing. José Mario Reyes, director of the GENESIS Project.
