Fundación Terra and USAID, through their Project "Creando mi Futuro Aquí", join forces to strengthen youth education in Honduras by signing a partnership agreement

Fondación Terra, in its ongoing efforts to contribute to the strengthening of Honduras' educational quality, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its program, "Creando mi futuro aquí" The main objective of this collaboration is to enhance the national education system.

Through this alliance, the goal is to improve educational performance and reduce dropout rates in secondary education centers. This will be achieved through tutorial support provided by academically excellent youth who reinforce educational knowledge and study skills for lower-grade students in secondary education experiencing academic challenges.

This memorandum of understanding paves the way for the flagship program of Fundación Terra, the Scholarship Tutoring Program, to extend from the Basic level to Secondary Education. The program will cover 50 educational centers in the departments of Francisco Morazán, Comayagua, Cortés, and Atlántida, with the participation of 500 tutors, 5,000 students receiving tutoring, and 100 teacher liaisons in this new phase of the program.

As part of this initiative, processes of job placement, vocational training courses, and support programs will be implemented to guide young people towards employment and entrepreneurship. This approach encourages them to explore options for self-sufficiency and creates opportunities for them to consider becoming entrepreneurs who can generate employment.

During the event, Ms. Mariel Rivera, Executive Director of Fundación Terra, stated: "It is proven that tutorial action is an effective method due to the personalized attention it provides, emphasizing the competencies and skills that need to be developed." She also highlighted: "Another fundamental area of work with this alliance is to strengthen entrepreneurship with students, motivating them so that upon completing their studies, they can enter the job market or start a business idea."

"Creating My Future Here" is a USAID initiative that increases employment opportunities for young people at risk of migration. Additionally, the project improves access to quality education, whether in the formal or non-formal education system. From 2021 to 2026, the project aims to benefit 500,000 young people at risk nationwide, enabling their participation in the economy and/or society.

Fundación Terra and USAID continue to make a significant contribution to Honduras' education system and youth, helping to improve their living conditions and those of their families through education and entrepreneurship.
